collaborazione tra questa band irlandese e molti tra i migliori musicisti di musica country tra cui Ricky Skaggs, Don
Williams, Colin James, Emmylou Harris, i membri di The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Willie Nelson, Chet Atkins e Sam Bush.
L'album ha vinto il Grammy Award 1993 per il Miglior Album Folk Contemporaneo ed è stato nominato in altre 3
categorie: Miglior Performance Pop Strumentale, Miglior Collaborazione Country vocale, e Miglior Performance Country
strumentale (per "Cotton Eyed Joe").
I Chieftains hanno anche vinto il premio per il [i]Miglior Album Folk

The Chieftains sono
un gruppo folk irlandese.
Il nome Chieftain deriva dalla traduzione della parola gaelica irlandese Taoiseach (ma
esistono gli analoghi tòiseach e tywysog rispettivamente in gaelico scozzese e in gallese), che significa capo
clan.
I Chieftains vengono fondati nel 1963 dal piper http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddy_Moloney Paddy Moloney
insieme ad alcuni amici con cui già suonava nei Ceoltoiri Cualann di Seàn Ó Riada: ne fanno parte il
violinista Martin Fay, il suonatore di tin whistles [i]Seàn Potts, il flautista Mìcheàl Tubridy, e al bodhran
David Fallon.
Paddy Moloney ha già suonato in diversi gruppi ed è alla ricerca di un nuovo approccio alla
musica tradizionale irlandese che lo porti a suonare "una musica che non sia mai stata ascoltata".
